Meet Oliver

Meet Ollie. He is our brand new puppy and the main reason why finishing up War & Peace by the end of February was so tough. He's possibly the sweetest dog in history.

We named him Oliver in part as a nod to Dickens. Even though Oliver Twist isn't my favorite character or book of his, Oliver makes a much better dog name than Murdstone or Havisham. I was tempted to name him Atticus or Leo, but in the end Oliver was the best fit.

More Wordless Wednesday here.

ADORABLE! And good call on the Oliver. I don't know how training your cute little pup would be for you if you have to keep repeating the name Murdstrone again and again. Haha.

OMG he is ADORABLE! Those eyes! I love it when their paws are almost too big for their little bodies. He is going to grow up to be one big doggy. I'm so envious. I've had dog sadness for such a long time, ever since we had to put down our Lab. Now we are overrun with cats and a guinea pig, so puppies must wait.

Awwwwww! What a little darling! =D

Maybe you could adopt a mutt from the pound, name him "Dodger" and hope that your Oliver is a good influence on him. ;-)

So cute! Oliver my least favorite Dickens too, but I love the name. I love the suggestion above about getting another and naming him Dodger. Too funny! Enjoy your puppy!

Jillian - Here Murdy, sit Murdy. Not so much.

Sandy - His paws are HUGE! He's so clumsy right now. Sounds like you have no shortage of pets right now.

Enbrethiliel - I love that! Dodger woudl be the perfect name for a mutt. Just brilliant.

Kristi - I suggested about 100 character/author names, but Oliver was the only one the Huz and I definitely agreed on. I liked that it's a nod to Dickens and it really is the perfect name for him. He's undeniably an "Ollie."

Oh he is so so cute! And I love the name as well. I could see him being a huge distraction though!

Hi LibraryThing Friend
Just wanted to say hi to that cutie of a dog and to you, too, of course.

Thanks guys! I'm sending Ollie all of your virtual love. He's definitely a distraction, but a good one.

So cute. I never knew my dog as a puppy because we rescued him later in his life. Oliver's a great name. Um...you didn't consider Pip? hee.

Melissa (Avid Reader) said...

mari - I did consider Pip! That was just about the only other Dickens name that would have worked.
